Installing BookingBuilder Desktop with Citrix and Terminal Services
When installing BookingBuilder Desktop in one of these environments, it is crucial that BookingBuilder Desktop is installed from Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs, the Add New Programs. This is required even with Windows Server 2003 or newer. If you do not install it this way, it will not work. Updates must be installed this way as well.
Since BookingBuilder Desktop interacts with both web browsers and the GDS, all of these applications must run in the same session for each user. This is particularly important when using Citrix ICA sessions. The best way we have found to ensure this is to start the GDS and BookingBuilder Desktop from a batch file. The published application icon should point to the batch file, so when it is started it starts both applications.
When an agent launches a web browser to a supplier site, it must also be in the same user session as BookingBuilder Desktop or BBD won't recognize it. When BookingBuilder Desktop launches web browsers, they will be in the same session, so this is the best way to access supplier sites.
To help ensure that different applications run in the same session, they must have the same configuration. For example, if two applications are set for different resolutions, they will run in different sessions. For more information, refer to your Citrix documentation.
